circuit d'actes / 12"
3rd release on La Forme Lente.. 2nd compilation.. Maxi format was chosen this time to emphasize these 4 synth-wave pearls.. A pop-wave debut for Bonjour Tristesse and Automelodi and a more cold-wave orientated B-side for Dolina and Frank (just Frank). Really active acts with concerts, LP's to come.. The sleeve has been created by Svet_9 (already known for his work with Brouillard Définitif). One of the best record of 2010 ;)

Artist : HNN
Label : La Forme Lente
pièce radiophonique / LP
HNN is the 'mirror project' of Gregg Anthe (from In Broken English), born around 2005 after the vanishing of Morthem Vlade Art. It displays an electronic music with cinematic qualities without losing anything of the hymnic side of the last MVA productions, like the soundtrack of an imaginary retro-futuristic movie, between Blade Runner & a “(das Himmel über) Berliner” Bowie. Or when John Foxx meets Moroder in the heart of Metropolis...

Artist : Human Puppets
Label : 5th Floor Ent.
sounds of solitude / LP
3rd release on this great Greek label. Here is the 2nd album of Human Puppets 'Sounds Of Solitude'. Somehow different from their debut album, 'Sounds Of Solitude', combines the band's distinctive, raw, minimal synth sound with crystal clear, new-wave elements and post punk references. This is definitely a more mature and avant garde side of the band, yet true to the d.i.y. philosophy and the all-analogue spirit. After listening to this record as it is, you'll get a bittersweet pinch to your heart, widely known as melancholy. We call it minimal synth. Limited to 300 transparent vinyl copies(hand numbered).

Artist : Intelligence Dept.
Label : Anna Logue Records
sleeping city / LP
'Sleeping City' is the highly anticipated and Anna’s 2nd release in co-operation with the Mannequin label from Rome. Intelligence Dept. were Davide Carlotti, Susanna Zaghi, Stefano Panzera and Gian Paolo Di Federico from Ferrara (Italy). They only ever officially released 3, yet totally amazing tracks on the 'A White Chance' Lp compilation in 1984 on White Studio Recording. These tracks were "Sleeping City", "Too Late To Love" and "Anger (Inside)". In 1985 they recorded a 2nd 4-track demo entitled 'The Big Trouble' but not many people seem to have known about its existence. Intelligence Dept.'s music is a unique blend of melancholic 80's electro-pop with dark/new-wave basses and saxophone action while being fronted by a powerful female vocalist, the lovely Susanna. Intelligence Dept. surely had a great potential to become a bigger or more successful band, but those were the times, like many others they faded into obscurity… but were not forgotten, so here we offer them and you a 2nd chance with the retrospective compilations of the band's works. The vinyl version features all 4 band's compositions from the 'Sleeping City' cassette and all 4 tracks from the 'The Big Trouble' cassette. Whaoh..

Artist : Martial Canterel & Tobias Bernstrup
Label : Mannequin
strange land / 7"
Played entirely live in one ago and using only vintage analogue synthesizers & sequencers, Martial Canterel & Tobias Bernstrup, 4-hands / 2-voices put our minds in another dimension, in an hypotetical night-time 'outside', where shadows and confusion are leading the way, creating simply a milestone for all the minimal electronics music lovers. A nearly forgotten collaboration dredged and now seeing the light of day !

Artist : Iko
Label : Democratic DanceBeat Records
'83 / LP
Iko was a minimal/synth/wave outfit from Canada. The most notable release by the band is their LP simply titled '83', which was released on a small Canadian disco label called Manhattan-Formula. Not much is known about the group due to little information in their record sleeves and little to no traces of information about the label they released on. Anyway, this is one of the most unknown yet amazing creations in the entire history of minimal wave and electronic music. Lots of simplistic lyrics, abstract and experimental sounds, and at the time, extremely groundbreaking techniques on the synthesizer. Their sound is hardly new or unique some 20 years later. A true "cult" of this genre. Try this album for a trip down electro lane! This record comes with 2 extra tracks that were never officially released. This collectors limited-reissue comes in edition of 400 copies. Essential Must-Have !!!

are you wireless? / 12"
2 electro tracks taken from the kult album "Wireless Internet" recorded on the french label Record Makers in 2002 and repressed here in 2008. Warm, hypnotic, deep, with sci-fi narratives produced by one of the most talented artist of Detroit from today and we hope for long time again... Must Have !

Artist : Arpanet
Label : Record Makers
wireless internet / 2x12"
Arpanet aka Dopplereffekt drop the bomb !! 9 tracks made of the usual killer strings, electro suss, heavy drop blitzkreig blasts and underwater weirdness. With it being Detroit based it's also a concept album, it's devoted to the revolutionary technologies of Japan's leading telecommunication company NTT DoCoMo, which will soon change our day-to-day lives so that's alright then. Repressed dope from 2006...

Artist : Arpanet
Label : Record Makers
inertial frame / 2x12"
Linked with both Drexcyian and Dopplereffekt camps, no one really knows for sure who Arpanet is. Following on from their mighty "Wireless Internet" lp on Record Makers set a couple of years back and 2nd "Quantum Transposition" lp on Rephlex in 2005, this album for Record Makers develops their conceptual electronic fragmentation into yet another evocative and mysterious strand of sub-marine electro. Inertial Frame takes the listener into derivative reflections on quantic physics and pays tribute to the works of 20th century great scientists. Highly recommended !!!

Artist : Tobias Bernstrup
Label : Enfant Terrible
1984 / 12"
Swedish visual and performance artist Tobias Bernstrup looks like a 21st century Klaus Nomi. His visual work is presented at exhibitions world wide. Next to that he is a gifted musician. He is able to create extremely catchy synth / electro-pop tunes while never crossing the line of delivering overproduced tracks. The sound of his tracks is like a hybrid of the arty side of Klaus Nomi with the pop side of Pet Shop Boys. This 4 track ep is built around the theme (and title track) "1984". But this theme is extended and made up to date. The Orwellian theme of total state control in which civilians are constantly watched and reality is manipulated is probably more actual as ever. This central theme is given a more individual and neo-romantic touch with the track "Light Years Apart", while the hostile state aspect is getting more of a sci-fi interpretation in "Enemies Of The Earth". Closing track "Data Love" combines the Orwellian sentiments of loneliness with the more contemporary vision on modern mankind of Houellebecq. The cover sleeve consis of 2 paintings by Tobias himself and fits the central theme perfectly. Despite the rather serious theme of the record this ep features simply excellent decadent music for the dancefloor. It combines elements of classic synth pop, electro, EBM, italo-disco and laser dance. There is no escape... You will have to love it !!!

Artist : Kim Ki O
Label : Enfant Terrible
dans / LP
The Turkish girl band Kim Ki O was already present on the Enfant Terrible compilation "Radio Resistencia". Next to that they released 2 very limited cd-r’s by themselves and already toured in Scandinavia. "Dans" is the official debut of Kim Ki O and features 6 lo-fi pop songs which at times are extremely catchy but never too easy or slick in anyway. At other times the music is more tranquil and becomes hypnotic dream pop that will soothe you, but hasn’t a single dull moment. Kim Ki O’s music is perfect lo-fi indie pop with that vibrant touch of the modern metropolis Istanbul they come from. Very evident are the New Order inspired melancholy melodies, the Casiotone For The Painfully Alone like cheap and charming electronic rhythms and that special 4AD sort of quality throughout the songs. With this debut mini album the band launches themselves into the world of music. Kim Ki O is for sure a band to keep an eye on.. ;)

Artist : Staatseinde
Label : Enfant Terrible

Staatseinde is one of the most promising electro-pop acts from Holland ;)

Artist : Jeff & Jane Hudson
Label : Dark Entries
flesh / 2x12"
Dark Entries & Captured Tracks have teamed up to re-issue this gold gem from the 80's, in a deluxe edition remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tapes. Lp 1 is the 'Flesh' Lp and Lp 2 features the "No Clubs" and "Special World" singles plus the 'World Trade' ep. Jeff & Jane Hudson are a husband/wife duo from Boston who got their start in the art punk band The Rentals in 1977. The Rentals broke up in 1980 and Jeff & Jane relocated to Manhattan where they opened for Suicide and quickly signed with no-wave label Lust/Unlust. Their 1st single "No Clubs" was released in late 1980 and showcased a lo-fi avant garde all synthesizer band. The 'World Trade' ep came next in 1981, expanding their brand of post-nuclear electronic pop. Their vocals qualities were distinct; Jeff quivery and drug-addled while Jane more detached and icy. The duo reached their pinnacle with 1982′s seminal 'Flesh' Lp. Perhaps one of the US biggest achievements in the entire synth movement of the 80's. The music was electro-pop with Jeff's lyrics flirted with technology and politics, while Jane wrote about cultural and psychological situations. Completely self produced by the band, the record has since been oft-cited as a groundbreaking and pivotal Lp of the post-punk era, who's original copies are now heavily coveted by collectors. Completing the discography is the 'Special World' 7" released in 1983 before the band emigrated back to Boston and stopped recording and performing. Each double Lp set comes in a gatefold sleeve with unreleased photos, original artwork and a lyrics sheet. Masterpiece !!

Artist : In Trance 95
Label : Minimal Wave
cities of steel and neon / LP
'Cities Of Steel And Neon' is a compilation of early tape recordings by Greek electronic pioneers In Trance 95. In Trance 95 was formed by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis when they were just 18 years old. From its inception, the duo shaped their sound using portable analogue synthesizers and drum machines, becoming one of the 1st artists in the minimal synth / coldwave / EBM vein to come out of Greece in the 80's. They released 2 singles, 1 12", and 1 album as well as appearing on several compilations at the time. Now for the 1st time ever, songs from their vast archive of unreleased 4-track tape recordings have been made available. 'Cities Of Steel And Neon' features material recorded between 1988-1989: the unreleased 4-track recordings, the highly lauded 1st single "Desire To Desire / Brazilia", and a rare version of "21st Century European Temptation". The LP, an edition of 999 hand-numbered copies, is pressed on 180gram black vinyl and housed in a matte jacket with semi-gloss inner sleeve depicting 1989 video stills of the the duo. Nice one ;)

Artist : Sympathy Nervous
Label : Minimal Wave
automaticism / LP
Sympathy Nervous is the project of Japanese artist Yosihumi Niinuma. Influenced by both classical and Krautrock, he began recording in 1979, and released several records on the highly coveted Vanity label. He continued to record and self-release much of his work throughout the 80's and 90's. His sound is intelligent and probably the most unique minimal synth to come out of Japan. Exploring dystopian themes, his music is well balanced and beautifully recorded. 'Automaticism' features songs Yosihumi Niinuma recorded between 1979-81. Most were originally slated for a cassette release but never saw the light of day until now. When the Tsunami washed away the coast of Japan last March 2011, Niinuma lost everything: an entire lifetime of recordings, instruments, hand built sequencers, and even his home. Fortunately, he had sent us his audio masters prior to the disaster. This release is fully dedicated to him, in memory of all his lost recordings. The record is pressed on 180gram ultra clear vinyl and comes in a printed heavy clear sleeve, with Niinuma's account of what happened on that day of March 11, 2011 and the months that followed. This is a benefit album, all the proceeds go to the artist. Tip!!

I don't remember now / I don't want to talk about it / LP
Very rare debut Lp by John Bender who released 3 Lp's (+ 'Pop Surgery' & 'Plaster Falling') and then disappeared without a trace. Primitive electronics that hearken back to early Cluster, Harmonia, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, and Faust. Label : Invasion Planète
4th anniversary / LP
The French minimal electro label Invasion Planete celebrated their 4th anniversary by releasing a compilation album on which various home acts have contributed a song as a birthday gift. This is the best birthday present the label themselves and electro minded people could ask for. Just as the other releases by Invasion Planete the music on this record is high quality minimal electro. Good rhythms and nice melodies provide both the listener and the dancer with a nice moody (but never over the top dark) atmosphere. Essential !!!

Artist : Scorpion Violente
Label : Avant!
uberschleiss / LP
Scorpion Violente is gay beast from France obsessed with analogue trash electronics and bad sexual habits. After unleashing a first 7" split the great 12" "Rome Violente" on Bruit Direct, you had the pleasure to meet on your path earlier this year, this 2-headed monster gets its 1st full-length album out right now on Avant!. This Lp features 8 longs tracks of pure mental disease from the middle of nowhere. Musically speaking this is a sort of sick mix between Giorgio Moroder italo-disco, the paranoid minimal wave performed by Suicide in 1977 and the early industrial-wave electronics by Cabaret Voltaire. Comes in full color sleeve plus insert with awesome artwork and nasty lyrics, and secret engraved message. 2nd pressing edition of 300 copies on red vinyl for your obnoxious taste ;)

Artist : Martial Canterel
Label : Wierd Records
you today / LP
New lp by Martial Canterel entitled "You Today". It incorporates bright, urgent melodies that snake and swagger between major and minor keys. The songs emanate a subtle melancholic darkness and a rhythmic, militant propulsion keeping things moving against all odds. Lyrically, the album continues McBride's exploration of the increasing difficulty in trying to connect with real people and real things as technology renders the material substance of bodies and objects ever more abstract and distant. This yearning for unmediated human contact with the world is appropriately echoed throughout the album by the hands-on, entirely live approach to recording and performance. "Market" and "Sidestreets" each delve into the disconcerting atmospheres of crowds, buildings, objects and intimates; the city with its boulevards, by-ways, and dead ends complicating the meeting of 2 lost and wandering figures. The restrained, sensual haze of "The Empty Sand" conjures oceanic imagery while the title track is a lament to love lost, ambiguously addressing the listener as a memory image of potential connection and attraction. The solitary listener can certainly enjoy the music of Martial Canterel, but its visceral intensity also translates directly to the dancefloor. Amidst a flurry of flesh in motion, in a blissful atmosphere of material connection with others, the concepts that permeate the music and its creation become a reality.. One of the best albums of 2010 !!

Artist : Staccato Du Mal
Label : Wierd Records
sin destino / LP
New Lp by Staccato du Mal. Freezing out the heat-seeking Miami scene with his cold minimal-synth for the past decade, Ramiro Jeancarlo (half of the industrial outfit Opus Finis) offers up 10 tracks of analogue darkness. Sung in both English and Spanish, the LP is an aura of dread and claustrophobia that without a doubt evokes the brutally hot, dry, lonely landscape of suburban South Florida. But beyond the dismal swamplands, it's possible to detect the mournful ambiance of cultures plagued for centuries by colonization, civil war and political turmoil. Whether Jeancarlo means to offer "Salvation Through Suffering" as an alternative to everything from catholicism to revolutions-turned-tyrannies is not explicit, but the distinctive mood of dread conjures something more monolithic than plain nihilism. Therein lies the fascinating duality: "Lost Image" could as easily land in a soundtrack to a film about a lonesome teen in desolate suburbia as it could a film about Pinochet's Caravan of Death. Despite the disorienting feeling of so much of the album, Staccato's own 'coup d'état' comes in the moments of resolution where warm melodies and nearly psychedelic soundscapes counter the bleakness. While this album could be described as Wierd Records' least commercial release so far, Staccato Du Mal's music is rich with sonic feeling that makes for infinitely rewarding listening. Working within the confines of the minimal-synth genre, Jeancarlo manages to include elements of pop, noise, and industrial that slink to the surface with each eerie listen. Tip !!

Artist : Various
Label : Hertz-Schrittmacher
schadstoffklasse grau / LP
Truly an excellent compilation with only contemporary and mostly unknown new acts. Deep & hypnotic minimal electronics... Even spacey and almost psychedelic at times. The best thing about this record is that it does not aim at cheap dancefloor fillers but goes for nice listening music. For the fans of minimal electronics in its pure and raw form, a must have ! One of the best Kernkrach sublabel releases so far. Limited to 333 copies. Don't sleep !

Artist : Bloodygrave & Die Lust!
Label : Hertz-Schrittmacher

Debut 7" ep by this German minimal electro act. 4 deep tracks to please the die hard fans of the genre but catchy enough to attract the attention of a broader audience. Also excellent packaging in the best Kernkrach tradition.. Excellent clear red vinyl ;)

Artist : Edo 8
Label : Marguerita
cruise control / 12"
Edo 8 is a member of the Cosmic Force guys (owners of the dutch Marguerita Recordings), and this is his second EP released in 2002. A fast driving Model 500 influenced electro cuts. Two shorter darker driving cuts and two longer more conventional/traditional Detroit influenced tracks in the vein of the Direct Beat releases.

Artist : Proskool
Label : Marguerita
hit & run / 12"
Awesome watery bassline proceeds to kick ass. The 4 tracks wobble all over the place yet stays firmly on the groove, not too much added, not too much taken away,. Proskool know where the groove is, and they aint messing with it. Classic Drexciya inspired sounds, not imitated very well by other artists, but indistinguishable here, a big up to the Marguerita crew for finding such talented artists, Large and Essential !

Artist : Swayze Dub

Artist : Rude 66
Label : Crème Organization
black sabbath (the three faces of fear) / 12"
This the night when fear and death walk hand in hand! Rude 66 has turned to the path of evil with deep malignant industrial electro. Trademark dirty brown melodies and the vocoded chants of the Chicagoan Angel of Despair make these hypnotic tracks instantly recognizable, and a worthy addition to the Rude 66 legacy. Easily his most consistent EP to date !

Artist : Martin Lloyd
Label : Minimal Wave
l'amant electronique / 7"
Minimal Wave presents us an exquisite 7" release by Martin Lloyd entitled "L'Amant Electronique". Martin is mainly known for his Oppenheimer Analysis project, yet through the years he recorded over 2 dozen tracks on his own, most of which never saw the light of day. The 4 selected tracks were recorded between 1980 and 1984 in his own "Feedback Studios" in Battersea, London. Martin Lloyd delivers vocals via the vocoder and carefully layers synth melodies which range from upbeat and danceable, to what could be the soundtrack to a 1981 post-apocalyptic science fiction film. The record is pressed on white vinyl with a heavy black jacket (spot gloss) and is limited to 999 hand-numbered copies. Very Nice ;)

Artist : Shemale
Label : Falco Invernale Records

Revisit the ancient myth of Cthulhu, witness strange blood rituals in hidden ocean caves and immerse yourself in an atmospheric journey of evil soundscapes dedicated to Gods best forgotten. The work has taken on a great graphic dimension, with the striking haunted and sinking island imagined by Nils transcending our aural vision. Superb...

Artist : Eleven Pond
Label : Dark Entries
bas relief / LP
Re-issue of the debut album by Eleven Pond. Long sought after by collectors, the Rochester, NY band only released a single lp in their time together before dissolving into obscurity. Their sound (a merging of post punk’s dark dance and synthpop’s melodic arrangements), reflected the originality of gifted songwriters who met in art school with a shared interest in 4AD and Factory Records. The recordings on this release comprise the band’s entire recorded output and the lp includes an original insert including photos, lyrics and liner notes. Eleven Pond officially parted ways in 1987 but nearly a quarter-century later these recordings prove how vital they remain. Must Have !!!

Artist : Dark Day
Label : Dark Entries
window / LP
Following the 1st few incarnations and various lineups of Dark Day; 1981 saw the direction of the project morphed into an electronic keyboard duo of Robin Crutchfield and Bill Sack with an album of 9 songs originally released on Plexus Records. Lyrics were inspired by various sources including occult texts by Colin Wilson and art by Leger, Bruegel, Malevich, Man Ray, Duchamp and Jean Cocteau. The mechanized sound of "Window" is less one of the man machine robots in charge of Kraftwerk than man at the mercy of his machines. The infectiously-engaging toy-like instruments captured the ears of fans worldwide with popcorn drum rhythms. A Synare borrowed from Jeff and Jane Hudson lent a "Bette Davis Eyes" homage and crack to the percussion on the percolating tracks. The instant polaroid images, an homage to Japanese recording artist Susan of "The Girl Can’t Help It" adorned the album sleeve in 2 stark headshots of musicians at work, haunted by the unseen. Is the window something you look out, or in? You must answer that question..

Artist : Francesco Clemente
Label : Crème Organization
suoni dalle ombre oltre / 12"
Great early 80's electronic soundtrack by Francesco Clemente (aka David Kristian from Canada) released in 2004, sounding a bit like early John Carpenter work but more twisted and dark. A crickety drum machine provides a thin, synthetic backdrop for both lush and sharp eerie dark room synth tones. Massive gloomy and imposing atmosphere. Highly recommended !

Artist : Legowelt vs. Orgue Electronique
Label : Bunker
derrick in nord korea / 12"
Cult killer record by Legowelt and his teamate Orgue Electronique originaly released in 2000. More of that unique weird electro-disco hybrid which is almost the trademark of The Hague... Limited repress ;)

Artist : Jackmaster Corky
Label : Crème Organization
dimension 106 / 12"
Back to jack with Jackmaster Corky (who sounds very much like Legowelt, which doesn't necessarily mean it is Legowelt..). Probably one of the best Crème Jack releases with a dark track with a haunting string and a classic chicago bassline. Nice building and garantueing more then 5 minutes fun on the dancefloor.. Unforgettable !

Artist : Sonnenbrandt
Label : Anna Logue Records
gestern / LP
This "Getsern" album is a co-production between the 3 labels : Anna Logue Records, Hertz-Schrittmacher and NLW, joining forces to help Sonnenbrandt finding their way onto the road to success, just because there's only few other contemporary act that deserves a wider audience than they do ! The band hails from Hamburg (Germany), was founded in 2003, and consists of Stefan Bornhorst (from The Silicon Scientist), Jojo Brandt (from Liquid Dreams) and his wife Sonja "Sonne" Brandt for lyrics & vocals. They perform the perfect mixture of early 80’s electro-pop and NDW, paired with German lyrics being entertaining in a funny way. The tunes are very catchy, melodic though with some darker melancholic undertones. “Gestern” closes a first chapter being a flashback compiling five years of recording songs. There’s no future without a past. On this album every song is a hit, made for you to sing along , and dance to. Also worth mentioning is a slight participation of Alain Seghir from Martin Dupont. Limited pressing of 500 copies...

There are moments from Drexciya's past, present and future on this album. There are also moments of clear oceanic beauty, and deadly sub-aquatic harshness. Beautiful clear synths descend into warm carribean waters to near perfect effect. Mighty stuff once again from the true source. Repressed Must Have !

Artist : Wermut
Label : Reue Um Reue
ether / 2x12"
After 4 years of intense cosmic labour, here comes full-length number five from the prog-electro duo, now turned trio with multi-instrumentalist Niedowierzanie joining forces, and assisted by guest drummer Falko Grau. The 4 long trance inducing Berlin-school influenced psychedelic pieces will take you on an 85 minutes long journey to the fountain of life. This new opus is without a doubt the band’s most traditionalist work to date, reflecting on the quintessence, the doctrine of the 5 elements, the cycles, the holy mountain, the world tree and what has been the bands most recurring symbolic interest: the heart of the world. Some "Tomhetian" melodies here, a hint of southern rock à la Earth and post-rock à la Gybe there, a soupcon of 80's minimal wave romanticism and a bit of cascadian feeling combined with loads of pulsating analogue sequencing in the style of Ash Ra Tempel, Tangerine Dream and Tim Blake, "Ether" is the logical continuation of works like "Anna" and "Les Nuits Dalmates", moving further away from the new-wave of the 80's and investigating the more obscure psychedelics of the 70's.. Enter the realm of metaphysical post-kraut-rock ! Limited to 310 hand-numbered copies.

Artist : Iron Curtain
Label : Pylon Records
desertion 1982-1988 / 2x12"
This is Iron Curtain’s complete vinyl output from 1983 to 1998 and adds Steven Fields solo 7" plus “The Condos” in a 1982 live version to it. There is just no bad Iron Curtain song to find, they are all fantastic. Also quite unique Steve’s motivation for writing such socio-critical lyrics. Includes the “Terror Story / Anorexia” 7" (1983), “Tarantula Scream” 12"ep (1984), “Like a Family / Telephone” 7" (1985), “Shadow / The Burning” 12" (1987), “Legalize Heroin” 7" (1988). Nothing left to say but a must-buy for any lover of dark minimal electro-wave !

Re-issue of the long out of print and extremely collectable "Factory Sample" which is a 7" double sampler ep originally released by UK Factory Records, and was the first vinyl recording to be released by the label. A faithful replica including stickers. A new-wave / punk Must Have !

Artist : Iron Curtain
Label : Pylon Records
shadow / 12"
The original "Shadow" 12" was the artist’s 4th & final vinyl release back in 1987. Beautiful and haunting dark wave with drum machine, dominant smooth bass and guitars on both tracks, simple but as always so effective. This reissue adds the previously unreleased tracks "Miami Beach" to the track list, an early live track dating back to 1982 and recorded at Club Iguana, which is purely electronic, dark, cold, and monotone, you will just love it ! Apart from the great music you'll get a rather unique vinyl colour as there are many (white, red, golden marbled, pink marbled, yellow marbled..). Also going to be a rarity soon, too, as only 300 copies were made and no repress will be made..

Label : Angular Recording Corporation
cold waves + minimal electronics volume one / 2x12"
The album chronicles the secret underground cult genres of cold wave and minimal wave, which mostly originated from continental Europe between the years 1981-1985. Containing songs that have only been available up to now on ultra rare 7"s, lost radio sessions and cassette tapes , as well as never before seen photos and extensive sleeve notes about the genre. "Cold Waves and Minimal Electronics Vol.1" is finally here to teach us all a thing or two about the history of electronic music the world over... Essential !

Artist : Chrisma
Label : Medical Records LLC
hibernation / LP
'Hibernation' is the spectacular follow-up to the 'Chinese Restaurant' lp. It was recorded in 1978 and originally released in 1979 on Polydor. This record has not been available on vinyl for over 30 years and tends to fetch rather high prices on the collector's market. The songs are restrained, yet explorative and passionate. The opening track "Calling" takes the listener down a quirky new-wave path riddled with angular guitars and random bits of analog beeps. The stand out track is certainly "Gott Gott Electron" which is an intoxicating dancefloor slow cosmic jam which will leave a permanent involuntary imprint to the lucky who hear it. As a whole, the record is reflective of the passion between Maurizio and Christina and is a new-wave masterpiece on many levels. "Aurora B" and "Lover" further display the intense emotional interplay. This high quality 180gm black vinyl reissue was licensed directly from the artist. Hand-numbered limited 2nd edition of 500 copies. Essential..

Artist : Automelodi
Label : Wierd Records
untitled / LP
Self-titled debut lp from Montreal's Automelodi (aka Xavier Paradis) who has long garnered a cult underground following with his solo minimal synth project Arnaud Lazlaud active in Canada since the late 90's. Automelodi (formed in 2006) combines guitars with synthesizers and drum machines to create a truly idiosyncratic, cerebrally sophisticated, and elegantly composed album of modern minimal electronic music.. Highly unique for a North American band in 2010, Automelodi proudly embraces the infinitely rich ground of French pop musical influences, classic French cold-wave & minimal synth, and early UK new-wave. The album carefully weaves together a series of hook-laden uptempo pop trax with a set of stylishly confident, yet vulnerably melancholic downtempo songs that allow the listener to catch his misty breath in the mix, with nearly all vocals smoothly delivered in French. As is often the case within French literature, poetry, and pop musical history the freely associative, intuitive and often dreamlike play of language and the voice is of prime importance to the band. And indeed for the English-speaking listener in particular, the vocals function as an additional flowing and soaring instrument in the mix as well as a mysteriously mediating force that provocatively obscure the lyrical narratives at work, while carefully playing off of both the icily detached guitars and the warmly, organic electronics. An amazing balancing act it is, and negociating this plethora of conflicting forces within the record is quite an exciting sonic event to experience... welcome to the world of Automelodi ;)

Artist : The Spectrometers
Label : Decasian Records
dead soul music / LP
Amazing 16 song album from 2008 by this French enigmatic vintage band who seem more enticed by a theremin rather than the temptations of rock and roll. This LP brings you into an extremely surreal outplay of film noir, western, creepy surf and manic obscure electronic feedback. When The Shadows meets Throbbing Gristle.. Tip !

Artist : MAS 2008
Label : Electronic Corporation
hypophysika / 12"
Mas 2008 again with their Aux88 like electrobass sound: boomin 808's, funky hooks and wide pads: 90's electrobass at it´s best. 4 track EP of proper Detroit-flavoured electro.

German electro purists MAS 2008 last EP with "un-destroyable structures" on their own label Electronic Corporation. 6 real powerfull and danceable electrotracks. Artist : Dream Disco
Label : Das Drehmoment
take me home / 12"
Excellent new discoid electro release by Dream Disco aka by Dj Overdose on Das Drehmoment Records from Berlin. Alden Tyrell-ish chords and basslines with a macho male and a sexy female vocal. Including two excellent remix by New York producer Speculator and DJ Technician from Holland.

Artist : Multiplex
Label : Human Shield
momensch / 12"
The Human Shield Record Company spew forth a blocky gruel in the form of "Momensch", the latest release from electronic brothers, Multiplex. "Macao" kicks off the ep and whips up some serious foam while "My Synthesiser" merges that trademark electroid / idm crossover beautifully; great stuff. Next level melodies combined with back street drum surgery ask unanswerable questions. Closing track "Keep - X" winds things up nicely leaving you sweating and in need of a stiff drink and a roll up. So there you have it, the Human Shield Record Company once again steps in just in time to rescue the bloated hulk of electronic music. Try It ;)

Artist : Pauli Jylhankangas
Label : Klakson
clutz / 12"
The latest weapon from Dexter’s Klaxon imprint comes from the impossibly named Pauli Jylhankangas. 5 trax of strange retro electro disco cuts, ranging from the funked analogue of "Lie Low" with its squelchy acidic synths that funk around the beats creating a vintage feel while 70’s synths play a feelgood melody over the top. Another cut to check is the lazy 4/4 of "Turbo Fever" which offers an easy going and quite light melody over 80’s disco-fied drums, definitely not the Klaxon of Dexter and Fastgraph style, more a trip back to more innocent days of dance music. Check it boy !!

Artist : Those Attractive Magnets
Label : Dark Entries
electromagnetic pulse / LP
Dark Entries celebrates its 1 year anniversary with this beautiful release. Those Attractive Magnets were created early 1980 in a town called Tamworth as a vehicle for Rikk Quay (keyboards) and Andy Baldwin (vocals). They self-released a super limited cassette ep, "Pictures On The Wall" in 1980 and the "Nightlife / Love Chimes" 7″ in 1983 and appeared on a futurist music compilation lp, "Synthetic Romance" in 1982. Their music travels beyond copycat synth-pop bands of the time into electronic realms of the 80's underground scene. There are some obvious parallels of the time (you can hear the commercial strains of The Human League, Soft Cell and Kraftwerk at times), but the band never wholly embraced commercialism as these tracks reveal. Although their sound takes a cue from the post-punk and early new romantic scenes, it still remains one step ahead in a unique futuristic world full of delicious dance beats ! "Electromagnetic Pulse" is the 1st ever compilation of a number of tapes produced during their 3 creative and prolific years of song writing, 1980-1983. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies with poster & insert of lyrics, photos and liner notes. Simply Essential ;)

Artist : Nagamatzu
Label : Dark Entries
sacred islands of the mad / LP
Highly limited 2nd cassette by British duo Nagamatzu for the first time ever on vinyl. "Sacred Islands Of The Mad" is a collection of 11 tracks recorded between december 1984 and march 1986 in London by Andrew Lagowski on synths, guitar, and drum machines & Stephen Jarvis on synths, bass and programming. Nagamatzu began in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. Their music reflects his influence and incorporates carefully chosen samples from the Challenger shuttle disaster, Gregorian chants and films including "Dawn Of The Dead" and "The Omen". All the songs were recorded onto a Ferrograph reel to reel in a small room at their parent's house and some of the backing rhythms and sequencers were recorded 1st onto cassette and then the band played along live. Nagamatzu’s instrumentals combine stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat, calling to mind Clock DVA, Cabaret Voltaire and early New Order or Cocteau Twins. "Sacred Islands Of The Mad" is a complex, textured tapestry of sound full of dark electronics, fresh harmonies and danceable rhythms. All songs have been remastered especially for vinyl from the original cassette masters. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies and including a newsprint zine full of fliers, gig tickets, ads, and photos.. Essential archive ;)

Artist : Futurisk
Label : Minimal Wave
player piano / LP
Here is the long awaited 30th anniversary release by Futurisk. Originally from Florida, Futurisk was a pioneering electro-punk group that recorded and performed in the pre-midi era of the early 80's. They had 2 vinyl releases on 7" : "The Sound Of Futurism 1980 / Army Now" and the "Player Piano ep". They played a legendary live show and had some TV appearances, but for a number of reasons by 1984 Futurisk was history. The "Player Piano" lp culls material they recorded between 1980 & 1982, featuring all the tracks from their two 7" releases as well as some early 4 track tapes and rare studio recordings. The record is pressed on 180 gram vinyl, comes in a matte printed innersleeve (with old photos and press) and orange matte outer jacket.. Very nice, as usual on MW !!

Artist : Led Er Est
Label : Captured Tracks
poll gorm / 7"
Falling into the sub-genre known as "cold wave", this 7" is an absolutely gorgeous re-interpretation of what 80's goth was. The lyrics are dark. They croon mournfully over minimal guitar and sparse, simple touches of synths and drums. It really sounds like this trio were born of that post-punk scene that spawned such morbid romantics as Siouxsie, Robert Smith and Peter Murphy. Although I've made a lot of references to things already firmly established with worn welcomes, there's something about the warmth of vocals and the minimalism of the guitar that makes it feel like a new take on the old. Whaoh !!

Artist : Alex Nôrinh

Artist : Dj Overdose
Label : Monotone
the beat / 12"
What's the common point between N ovamen, Los Hombres Nova, Dream Disco, Get It Boyz, The Hasbeens and Los Muchachos Gruesos ? Dj Overdose of course ! having written since the mid of the 90's some of the best electro cuts made in Den Haag (Holland) on prestigious labels Murder Capital, Bunker, Das Drehmoment, Panama Racing, Viewlexx... A-side : stripped down bassline, “The Beat” slowly mutes into a relentless nasty rocking mayhem based upon breathing samples, synthetic voices, hip hop lyrics and top notch scratchin'. Genius. Next is melodious “Drift Away”, made of sharp analogue synth lines, this kraftwerkian ode serves a fresh oldschool-ish electro that will probably not seem to be outdated during the next 20 years. The flipside keeps the pressure with killer “It's Dj Overdose”, melting with success rough beats, brilliant 808 drum programming, b-boys samples, vintage tonalities and heady vocoder, this ghetto tech tune is a real tribute to Miami. As insane as “Kleun De Megamix”, the following cut which offers to the 12'' one of its hottest pieces ! Incredible tunes guarantying you to set fire to many dancefloors... Huge and Vital !!!

Artist : Various
Label : Aerobic Audio

Artist : Various
Label : Börft Records
embellishment collection 1 / LP
Interesting compilation released in 1990 with some forgotten songs from the 80's... Music in it is absolutely unpredictable, shifting from loops experiments with noises and voices (Cruel When Complete, Systema Scrotum), minimal electronics (Min Vän, Porslinshundens Vän, End...) to dementous synth-pop/ndw songs like Meddelande Fran Rymden by Injury wich could have been a track from Guyver's Connection... But highlight goes to the swedish project Njurmännen with their powerfull Injured By Punishing Gods track. Dope !

Artist : Njurmännen
Label : Djuring Phonogram

For all of you that not have heard the original tape this is the time to discover the roots of this artist and others who have heard it you know it´s a great piece of Swedish electronic music history. This album contains nice electro-pop melodies, real experimental raw songs and sounds for horror movies...Brrrr

Another gratefully received Bunker repress. The title track is fully paid up, card carrying, certified rampant bass monsta, Miami in the Hague style, with high grade dope scratches and fly edits from Dj Overdose and Technician and all round b-boy don status assured. True ghetto tech with all the bits, will have you attempting headspins, even against doctor’s advice. You know it makes sense. The Shit !

disco nouveau : addendum / 12"
The madness never stopped. The legendary Tangent 2002: Disco Nouveau gets a little brother, and the results are even fatter and tougher than the original compilation. Chunky electo stompers from Holland's Legowelt and the elusive Manier, paired with steely electro-pop from the UK's DMX Krew and France's Volga Select -- the perfect antidote for boring dancefloors and bedrooms.

A founding member of Cosmic Force now pursuing his own flight plan. It’s easy to hear in his music the clarity of his mind during his substance induced periods, even though he may be searching for beats from other parts of the human brain most of us rarely use, he doesn’t return with only a vague idea but with a fully realized and executed piece of music.

Cracking album from Gerhard Potuznik. Electronic pop tribute to New Order's real songs, though the vocals veer into Ian Curtis territory. Eclectic and pure at the sametime !

vendetta / 12"
Vendetta is a vocal 5-track ep from GD Luxxe (aka Gerhard Potuznik from Vienna - Austria). Electro-pop music that would not sound at home on the International DJ Gigolos label (this is not techno music dressed in black leather and florescent pink gloves, no). Timeless variety electronic music. Here GD Luxxe takes the sound of classic-era New Order as a starting point, and makes his own statement for 2002. Honest, memorable, and sincere tracks for the home and for the dancefloor !

Artist : Imiafan
Label : 4mg Records
légy a falon / 12"
First vinyl release on the tiny but quality 4mg Canadian label with 7 tracks, including 4 reworks of "Legy a falon" wich is a danceable track with a clear nostalgic retro 80’s touch. Best remixes come from Alien Skull Paint with a driving bass a la Beta Evers (Kommando 6) and Marc Houle (half of the 2vm project with Veronica Vasicka) on "strawberry dream" track. Really nice

Artist : Geisterfahrer

Legendary German obscure new-wave/ndw band from the 80's. 3 songs between minimal-electro, analog-techno and new-wave influences. The all driven by heavy punk orientations. Unique...

Artist : Experiment Nnord
Label : NLW
untitled / 7"
These 2 tracks shows the more poppy side of this German band with some minimal-electro influences. They are not too close to the good old typical new-wave sound of the band and so seemed to be the perfect choice for a release on Hamburg-based NLW label. Intelligent German lyrics and male/female vocals, combined with gorgeous melodies show Experiment Nnord as an outstanding act. "Neue Welt" is a one of the greatest singable song ever !

A really good piece !

zeux, das sein muss / 7"
First release on NLW's brand new vinyl-only sub-label, this exciting and dangerously addictive little record presents 4 minimal-trash-electro-wave tracks from today (2007) and yesterday ('84, '86), from 4 projects by or with Haiko Erden. All 4 are equally effective "earworms" and each listening to this record carries a 12-hour-good-mood-gaurantee. Definitely a thrilling debut!

Label : NLW
volksmusik / LP
It is the second release of early material from IM NAMEN DES VOLKES on NLW, recorded between 1979 and 1982, and remastered by Matthias Schuster himself in 2007. These songs incorporate the essence of analogue minimal electronics: rough and weird analogue synthesiser sounds, monotonous sequences, simple melodies and vocoded voice, somewhere between DAF and DER PLAN. Highly recommended !

Artist : New Shiny Things
Label : Anna Logue Records
untitled / 7"
Re-released of two intense and emotional forgotten tracks by this US band originaly released as a 7" single on Blotto Records in 1982 which nowadays is impossible to find. Including the slightly weirder and previously unreleased post-punk track "Crayola Psychosis" (written in 1980, recorded in 1984). Great !

Artist : Chain Of Command
Label : Anna Logue Records
some aspects / 7"
Strong record again from Anna Logue Records with a 7" includes four previously unreleased songs recorded in '82 by a great small UK band called Chain of Command. Synth-pop at its best, run on it !

Artist : Strange Devotion
Label : Mauerstadtmusik
untiltled / 7"
Strange Devotion (aka Dominic Butler from UK), recorded a single demo cassette in April 1982. "Again The New Formation" sounds perfectly like a mixture of Vice Versa and Transparent Illusion using Korg MS10 and Sound Master Memory Rhythm SR-88. "Danger Line" sounds like the perfect mixture of Human League’s "Being Boiled" and Vice Versa, pure minimal analogue electronics heaven !!! Oh boy, this is Tippp ;-P
