Stripped electro kicks us off with the ever-so-short "Mnml 808" before the twisted chords of "Wake Up" lilt into position and produce a heartwarming mesh of electro, spinning MC’s, semi-scratches and a soulful b-line. "Pistrix Mix" is awesome; the sound of synths gone wrong and played badly, yet somehow emerging with a pure lushness of evocative melody and a superbly crunchy lazy beat. Totally wicked. "ATDT" on the flip ups the ante with an almost housey electro flash errrupting on all sides with analogue pressure. 8 tracks in total; varied, spot-on and predictably addictive hague madness. Very much a musical tribute to the great lost Drexciyan circle, the eastern European house Dj -UHU- brings his bloc-rocking sound to Gigolo Records. Enthralled to the shimmering end of the electro spectrum, "Kinetic Energy Part 1" is like a loved-up translussion, as synths bounce and steel beats rattle, whilst "Kinetic Energy Part 2" is either a Kraftwerk pastiche/homage depending upon your perspective. Seattle's 214 (TwoFourteen) is next in line for some HCS ear candy. His Miami roots are clearly present in his strong booming beat programming but Puerto Rico born Chris Roman has more tricks up his sleeve as his style crosses many borders. It's a solid electro-techno affair on this ep. "Drift Diving" could easily be a Warp/Schematic like track from the IDM heydays. Sharp electro rhythms combined with deep string laden melodies, pads and very strong attention for detail are the ingredients for this beautiful piece of machine funk. "Porous Surfs" on the flip is an epic ambient scape that sounds if it comes from 4000 feet deep. The ep finishes off with "Sidestepping", an electro-techno track that has a smart modern arrangement with very big bombastic string parts that will appeal to fans of ERP and the likes. Limited release with hand stamped art as usual.. Huge release on this Frustrated Funk offshoot!

So music for any Adn’ lover, and great to hear that Erick writes great songs on and on... Adolf Filter is Daniel Persson and Conny Klenze from Gothenburg (Sweden). Inspired by analogue synthesizers, drum machines and cassette recordings, and they started playing in various electronic bands over the years since 1986. Having started as Adolf Filter in 2004, they eventually appeared on various compilations, amongst them the “Doppelhertz” and the “Festival Der Genialen Dilettanten”. The whole concept is to keep the music free from any software synthesisers what so ever thus using only physical instruments. In general they do sound a lot like early Front 242 (thus in their best era : 1981 to 1983), making use of a lot of Roland SH-101 and TR-606. Limited to 300 copies.Very nostalgic, thus very good !

After the debut album was finished and released, one of the members had to leave for the USA for about one and a half year. During this time the band continued to write songs and played numerous live shows, with their studio technician (now a full time member of the band) filling the spot. Also in this period the band attracted another band member to perform live bass guitar on stage. Together they worked on a new album which was finished after the lost member was back from the USA. This record is "Irish Recording Tape". On this record the band has been perfecting their sound and song writing skills. Maybe the songs have been become more accessible in a way, but they still show the typical style of Agent Side Grinder : drilling industrial sounds which may be reminiscent at times of Swans, hypnotic synth sequences that refer to krautrock and psychedelic music and post-punk influenced bass lines which will give you flashbacks to Joy Division. "The Transatlantic Tape Project" is a blending of 60’s psychedelic music and 80’s experimental industrial muzak which is molded into original contemporary ambient music. The project released a fantastic LP on our Treue um Treue in 2009. These 2 tracks here are taken from the CD-r album 'Spomenik Neznanom Umetniku', which was released in a very small edition in 2010. The music is heavily inspired by early 80's electro-wave and synth-pop and has a certain OMD-feeling (but with totally different singing). At long last Ms Parker and Mr Morley re-unite to follow up on the genius that was their simply mighty “Angular Art” ep from a few years back - a true Pneck classic ! Fresh and fat the A-Side "Game Over" comes in strong and minimal with every noise and drum given its own space and arranged almost to perfection, the opening dark drums come complete with massive reverb and set the stage for the serious subbass and 808 drums that drop in perfect sync, the creepy atmosphere that permeates the track is complimented by sonar sounds and detuned synth samples on show, a serious electro excursion that’ll wake a few heads up to Touchin’ Bass. Flip over for "Uninvited" machine samples and an almost stuttered feel to the beat which enhances the groove of the track, 808 drums grace the track, with orchestral string samples and pitched effects flipping in over the top, and a sample that sounds suspiciously like the sliding doors from Star Trek, all this is joined by some heavy subbass and very subtle notes added to orchestral samples building the track up and to it flow that little bit more generously. Lastly "Early Days" is exactly what it says on the tin, 80’s electro drums with that tinny reverb reproduced superbly with nearly the whole array of early Roland drums used for good measure, I can hear the 808 toms and conga’s over the layered claps and snares, joined by what sounds like the 626 percussion, which will be a lesson to anyone who isn't aware of early electro productions, with a little acid line that appears wrapping the track and 12” up. Check this outstanding release !!!

Andreas Herz is up there with zombi as far a scorer for imaginary 80's horror films, coming up with some evocatively old-school synth lines on "Ecole Des Cadavres", while "Rebis" dips into kitsch with what sounds like an alternative take on the theme tune from "Knightrider". The appropriately titled "Sinister" is a hefty, pounding track, with serrated-edge synths, horrifyingly unpleasant vocoders (think Davros with a chest infection) and a 4/4 drum pattern that's tantamount to being walloped over the head for four minutes. Repress without sleeve. Be Fast...

Quite probably there hasn't existed any other group within the Greek underground scene that represented the synth-punk genre better than Anti... In fact, considering the band's uniquely performed sound-delirium as well as its straightforward anarchistic and generally rebellious versification, we would argue that it's unfortunate (though their members would consider it as fortunate) that Anti... has heretofore been unknown to the wide public and consequently, not regarded as one of the finest exemplars of minimalistic electronic punk in the international scene. Formed in 1981, Anti... presented their work for the 1st time in 1985, playing live in Pegasus (a well-known Athenian musical stage). The band, composed of 3 members (2 synthesizers & a bass) and a drum machine, performed an innovative mixture of punk and electronic music accompanied by corresponding socially, economically, politically and culturally wakeful lines. It was this idiosyncratic combination of a frantic sound performance and lyrics seething with an absolute rebellion ranging from the purely adolescent to the desperately mature plus the use of the Greek language rather than a foreign one, which reserved a special place for the group within the Greek underground music firmament. Anti... released 2 self-produced cassettes, a split album and participated in some compilations. Apparently, it needed 25 long years since the appearance of their original work (1986) until a full-work of the band could be released in vinyl. Basically, here is the re-release of Anti's 1st tape and the previously unreleased track "Last Beer" which was kept in the group's archive patiently waiting to see the light of day for more than 2 decades. All in all, 11 arousing compositions of a straightforward electronic punk idiom properly dressed with informative, remindful and overall riotous words. The only thing left now is to live this musical experience (limited to 500 numbered vinyl copies) hoping that you will enjoy it as strongly as we do ;)

Arpanet drops 4 tracks of Kraftwerkian melodics and machine beats direct from the Dataphysix labs. We're not quite sure what the concept is here (previous ideas have centred around wireless communications, the advancement of the internet and biometric identification) but the sounds are textbook Arpanet/Dopplereffekt, less fractured than his Rephlex output. "Infinite Density" revolves around a languid square bass and electro rhythm with a cold robotic glaze. The rigid wonk of "No Boundry Condition" accelerates to an Ultradyne level of dystopia before the 2 versions of "Event Horizon" (instru. & vox) decrease to sludgy currents of machine information with spooked out accompaniment. A thoroughly squashed package; Very good indeed ;)
